Chief Nursing Officer – Acute Care Division
The Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) for the Acute Care Division at Universal Health Services, Inc. (UHS) plays a transformative leadership role in shaping the future of nursing practice and patient care. This position is at the heart of ensuring high-quality outcomes, fostering professional growth, and driving innovation across all acute care facilities. The CNO is a member of the of the Acute Care Division leadership team and will be situated in the UHS global headquarters in King of Prussia, PA.

This role will be responsible for:
- Developing and implementing a strategic nursing plan that enhances patient outcomes, operational efficiency, and aligns with organizational goals.
- Leading the design and evaluation of clinical programs and services to meet regulatory standards and professional benchmarks.
- Partners with the Chief Medical Officer of the Acute Care Division, Risk Management and Quality to drive improvements in clinical quality and patient safety.
- Collaborating with HR to implement onboarding and development programs that prepare nursing teams for excellence.
- Strengthening partnerships and fostering innovation in nursing practices to ensure accessible and cost-effective care delivery.
Expectations will include:
- Enhancing nursing leadership development programs to inspire and grow future leaders.
- Establishing systems and care standards to ensure safe, fiscally sound patient care delivery.
- Recruiting and retaining a qualified and passionate nursing workforce through targeted workforce strategies.
- Conducting quality improvement activities to assess and elevate the status of nursing practices across the division.
- Traveling extensively (50%+ travel) to support facilities and ensure alignment with divisional goals.
A qualified candidate will possess the following:
- A BSN and a master’s degree in nursing, business, or a related field (required).
- 8+ years of executive-level nursing experience in both clinical and operational leadership roles within an acute care setting.
- Demonstrated success in leading large, complex organizations with geographically dispersed locations.
- A proven track record of designing and implementing processes that improve quality, operational, and financial infrastructures.
- Eligibility for nursing licensure in Pennsylvania and a willingness to embrace travel demands.
Compensation: Base $275,000 - $375,000 plus short term and long term incentives
